INTERVIEW: EXCLUSIVE interview with Milad Hacking (Ashiyane Digital Security Team)

We have pleasure to publish an interview with Milad Hacking, of Ashiyane Digital Security Team, following his deface of a UK university site. (See previous post here for details of the UK University deface).

The interview follows:

Q: What was it about the site that made it one you wanted to attack?

The large number of the site’s sub domains and some other factors [were the reasons to pick that site]. Prior to concentrating our effort on a certain website, our intention was to embark on a project for the Iranian new year; with God’s help and support we managed to get hold of the whole server in less than a week and despite the fact that it was a specific site server and was only supporting one site, which was making it difficult to work on it, our endeavor and dedication paid off and we managed to bring an smile to our friends and loved ones faces and make the almighty God happy.

Q: What would you say about the quality of the site?

In response to your question, I must say that there are lots of well placed friends who can give advice and help the servers and site admins regarding the site security, but one thing for sure is that if you don’t have enough experience in the field of hacking, you will never be immune against the risks and threats that the infiltrators [hackers] can cause for you.

Q: The message you put up on the site has been reported around the world, will you be doing this type of attack again in the future?

Yes. Rest assured that we are always willing to show Iran’s power in cyber space to the global audience. God willing, there will be lot more projects to come [from us] in future, but I’d rather not to mention any of them yet.

Q: Why did you decide on the image – was it something just for that defacement or will you use it again?

No, we put that image, because it was specifically related to this project and by doing so we wanted to show the cruelties of the Israelis to the world. There are more disturbing images which we are intending to use in future.

Q: Will you be attacking other universities - it has caused quite a reaction!

Nothing has been decided yet, but It is likely that we will penetrate a few Israeli and American universities in a near future as well, which I hope God will help us to carry out our mission.

Q: You have highlighted the Iranian hacking community to the world, do you have any advice for other hackers at all?

To some extent, there are other friends amongst the Iranian teams who are more experienced than me, the most prominent of them Ashiyane security team and I am so humbled to give advice in their presence, but in order to progress in the world of hacking you need to be inventive and take your time and do things the right way. Unfortunately, we are increasingly witnessing that some friends against the rules [code of conduct], they concentrate their efforts to attack the Iranian sites and servers which is disturbing.

Q: Where did you learn your skills – what are the best teams for this?

Initially, I started by following the links of the sites hacked by the Iranian teams, particularly Ashiyane. It was fascinating to find out how they can penetrate the sites, but I entered the world of hacking with the guidance of my Master, Mr. Elyas Maleki and through his guidance I succeeded to progress to a degree that as it stands I can have something to say in the world of hacking and security. Ashiyane was the only team that I worked with officially and I have never worked in any other team and I am very proud of being loyal to Ashiyane team.

In my opinion the top three teams in Iran of which Ashiyane is the most important of them are as follows:
  • Ashiyane Security Team
  • Exploiter
  • Iranian Dark Coders Team
